Programs

Special Programs and Fellowships

Fellowship programs for all church members bring together adults and children as part of our church family. These programs include luncheons, suppers, game nights, film nights and speakers. Groups of members contribute their time and effort throughout the year.

  • Oasis of Amazing Grace...where we explore our spirituality together. This series of workshops focuses on deepening our spiritual lives through a wide array of spiritual practices, disciplines and ways of being spiritual. We meet Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Spicer Chapel with contemplative worship followed by one of six informal workshops featuring food, conversation and support for those searching for a deeper relationship to God, family, friends, co-workers and the world. Workshop themes will be: Making Space for God, Bumping into God, Praying the Magnificat, Labyrinth Prayer, Benedictine Rule for Presbyterians and Other Monastics, and Healing Touch and Other Complementary Therapies. Plan to attend all the workshops or select the ones that ignite your interest, imagination, passion and/or curiosity!

  • Ecumenical Relationships have been encouraged by our ecumenically-minded congregation! We have enjoyed numerous joint worship services during Lent, Pentecost, Reformation Sunday and Advent. Our Women's Associations meet regularly with area churches for luncheons and fellowships.  We do not believe in "4-wall" Christianity and live this out in our rich relationships with others.

  • Bible Study groups are held weekly and the groups are growing and enthusiastic.  The mid-week Horizon's Brown Bag Bible Study group meets on Tuesdays at Noon. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch.

  • Working Together to Create a Healthy Community continues to be our focus as we move forward with our new ministries: Healthy Families, Mom's Coffee Club, Literacy Program and Summer Camp. Our Healthy Families ministry planted a Community Garden this past summer with the assistance of many friends and neighbors; and continues to move forward on the computer lab project. Our Adult Literacy Program is training new tutors with the help of Literacy of Fulton County and our Summer Camp Program in 2006 was a successful, ecumenical Vacation Bible School with Gospel lessons, crafts, music, story telling - planning for 2007 is underway.

  • Mature and Moving (M & M) Fellowship meet once a month to have dinner and enjoy good food, fun and fellowship.

  • Sunday School for all ages meets each Sunday following worship for activities and discussion.

  • The Fidelis Friends Circle is the combined group of the The Semper Fidelis Class which began as a Sunday school class back in 1932! They chose the name Semper Fidelis (always faithful) at that time and have been regularly meeting every since. Through their dedication, study and service they have made a tremendous contribution to our church and the Friendship Circle was formed in 1955 (originally as Mothers' Circle) to serve a need for mothers with small children. Their activities include mission programs and various fund raisers. They meet monthly from September to June and new members are always welcome.

  • Sanctuary Guild provides floral arrangements to grace our Sanctuary throughout the year with emphasis on seasonal decorations such as poinsettias at Christmas and lilies at Easter.
